Heineken Green Room 2013 Is Back @ KL Live, Life Centre

I’ve known Heineken Green Room as far as back in 2008, probably longer than that. Been quite an avid fan of such music events where we were introduced with indie and artsy artistes.

This coming 15th June 2013 sees Heineken Green Room return with yet another tantalising explosion of music and art in the shape of a line up that includes a live set from one of the United States’ most hotly tipped indie-pop outfits, The Drums, and a DJ set from the hands of British electronic mavericks Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (TEED) alongside a truly extraordinary collection of Malaysian acts and artists breaking new ground in the field of visual communications.

Tonic – If You Could Only See

They were later on joined by Dan Rothchild (bass guitars), and Kevin Shepard (drums).

Dan Lavery (bass, back-up vocals, rhodes, and piano) later on replacing Dan Rothchild in 1996 and Kevin Shepard too, left the band for personal reasons.

Tonic released their debut album, Lemon Parade in July 1996 and this “If You Could Only See” is one of the album’s biggest hits.

Here is the lyrics and music video for Tonic’s “If You Could Only See”. Enjoy.

Tonic – If You Could Only See

If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do

If you could only see how blue
Her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me

Well you got your reasons
And you got your lies
And you got your manipulations
They cut me down to size

Sayin’ you love but you don’t
You give your love but you won’t

If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do

If you could only see how blue
Her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me

Seems the road less traveled
Shows happiness unraveled
And you got to take a little dirt
To keep what you love
That’s what you gotta do

Sayin’ you love but you don’t
You give your love but you won’t
You’re stretching out your arms
To something that’s just not there

Sayin’ you love where you stand
Give your heart when you can

If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do

If you could only see how blue
Her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me

Sayin’ you love but you don’t
You give your love but you won’t
Sayin’ you love where you stand
Give your heart when you can

If you could only see the way she loves me
Then maybe you would understand
Why I feel this way about our love
And what I must do

If you could only see how blue
Her eyes can be when she says
When she says she loves me

Heineken Thirst 2012 Featuring Justice, Above & Beyond, and Avicii @ Sepang International Circuit, KL

It was one of the best party in 2012, probably the best in 2012!

Well I was a bit late for the event because the door opened at 5PM, and I reached the venue around 11.30PM.

So basically I’ve missed most of the local acts like Tommy Cham, Mr Nasty and Guru Guru, Phil K Lee, Goldfish & Blink, Lapsap, and international acts like Brodinski, Gesaffelstein, and Justice.

Just barely made it for about 20-minutes set of Above & Beyond before Avicii came on the podium.

The VIP area was really great! It has ample of space for the party revellers to move around. But I guess one of the reasons was some of them actually went into the normal area to party with the crowd.

*Yours truly, Adrie, Joshua*

Apart from the VIP area, there’s also the Heinekabana where you need to purchase a minimum amount of tickets to have the whole cabana for your company without having to push or get lost in the crowd.

Although the crowd was really packed and the place is of course, dark, I still managed to bump into few friends.

Jars Of Clay – Flood

Jars of Clay, an alternative band no stranger to the 80′s babies where alternative and grunge and its peak.

Formed in 1993, Jars of Clay (JoC) consists of Dan Haseltine (vocals), Charlie Lowell (piano/keyboards), Stephen Mason (lead guitars), and Matthew Odmark (rhythm guitars).

JoC released their first full-length self-titled album, Jars of Clay, producing the hit single “Flood” in 1995.

*Jars of Clay (1995)*

“Flood” is one of the biggest mainstream hits by a band on a Christian label, coz JoC’s style is a blend of alternative rock, folk, Christian rock, acoustic, and R&B.

In 1997, JoC won a Grammy Award for “Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album” with their sophomore album, Much Afraid. The album earned platinum certification by RIAA.

Up-to-date, they have released 11 albums and probably still very active in concert touring and charity campaigns.

Here’s the MTV and lyrics of Jars of Clay – Flood.

Enjoy!

Jars of Clay – Flood

Rain, rain on my face
It hasn’t stopped raining for days
My world is a flood
Slowly I become one with the mud

[Chorus:]

But if I can’t swim after forty days
and my mind is crushed by the thrashing waves
Lift me up so high that I cannot fall
Lift me up
Lift me up – when I’m falling
Lift me up – I’m weak and I’m dying
Lift me up – I need you to hold me
Lift me up – Keep me from drowning again

Downpour on my soul
Splashing in the ocean, I’m losing control
Dark sky all around
I can’t feel my feet touching the ground

[Chorus]

Calm the storms that drench my eyes
Dry the streams still flowing
Cast down all the waves of sin
And guilt that overthrow me

[Chorus]

Lift me up – when I’m falling
Lift me up – I’m weak and I’m dying
Lift me up – I need you to hold me
Lift me up – Keep me from drowning again
