Jack Purcell X OffDay, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur

Converse Malaysia is proud to announce its Jack Purcell Pop Up Store that will take over Offday Bangsar located at Jalan Telawi 3 on 21st August 1, 2014.

This is also to showcase the newest range of The Converse Jack Purcell “Cross-Stitch”.The Fall 2014 Converse Jack Purcell sneaker collection introduces the all-new Converse Jack Purcell Cross Stitch – a waxed cotton cross-stitch detail – outfitted in leather, a core texture for seasonal dressing. The premium and quality leather materials and subtle stitching details in the sneaker collection are refined and built with all around comfort.

Whilst everyone has heard of Converse, Jack Purcell has been around creating sneakers since 1935. The classic sneaker with its iconic “smile” toecap perfected the brand as a household favourite stylish sneaker. Converse Jack Purcell has been moving the brand into the vintage-classy direction and re-outfitted in sophisticated soft tumbled leather.

This pop-up store serves as a visual curation of Irman Hilmi’s Offday retail experimentation; where it specialises in capturing the old-school appeal in premium menswear with a little bit of punk rock influence that work hand-in-hand with Converse Jack Purcell’s old school appeal with the ala-Americana direction. This will be a good collaboration to be witnessed.

Tiger Translate Malaysia @ Kenanga City

Tiger Beer, the world’s iconic Asian beer presented the first ever Tiger Translate event here in Malaysia at Kenanga Wholesale City (KWC), right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Thousands of art and music enthusiasts witnessed as art and music collided under one roof for an unforgettable, one of a kind experience.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to the visual and music artists who did a stellar job bringing the two worlds together and engaging with the audience. It has always been our aim to keep the brand relevant to our consumers and tonight was a testament to that. We definitely look forward to having more of these in the years to come.”

Peranakan Platter @ D’Cuisine, Plaza 33

Had a scrumptious lunch the other day at D’Cuisine at somewhat new office building, Plaza 33 at Petaling Jaya. It’s located just beside Jaya 33.

D’ Cuisine is a fusion restaurant, featuring Malaysian unique dishes in a modern way, such as your local Nyonya curry noodles with salmon, and mustard and herb crusted baked chicken among others.

I ordered the Peranakan Platter aka nasi lemak Peranakan that comes with steamed coconut rice, chicken thigh, and prawn in their very own sambal sauce.

The steamed coconut rice is very fragrant that I can eat the rice alone without any condiment or dishes.

The chicken thigh is pretty crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The sambal prawn is another flavourful condiment that goes very well with the coconut rice.

Price wise, D’Cuisine is slightly on the high side where this plate is RM25. I wouldn’t mind returning for other stuff but maybe restricted to celebration meals only. That’s just me.

Weezer – Say It Ain’t So

Weezer, formed in 1992 in Los Angeles. The band currently consists of Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, guitar), Patrick Wilson (drums, guitar, backing vocals), Brian Bell (guitar, backing vocals, keyboards), and Scott Shriner (bass, backing vocals, keyboards).

Say It Ain’t So, is a single from its self-titled debut album in 1994. It’s the third single by Weezer and has remained their most popular song of all-time.

This song, of course, remains one of the best alternative songs of the 90′s.

Written by Rivers Cuomo, he believed his parents’ marriage ended because his father was an alcoholic and this made him fear the marriage between his mother and step-father would end this way as well. Hence this song.

Here is Weezer’s Say It Ain’t So lyrics and music video.

Weezer – Say It Ain’t So

Somebody’s Heine’
Is crowdin’ my icebox
Somebody’s cold one
Is givin’ me chills
Guess I’ll just close my eyes

Oh yeah
Alright
Feels good
Inside

Flip on the tele
Wrestle with Jimmy
Something is bubbling
Behind my back
The bottle is ready to blow

Say it ain’t so
Your drug is a heartbreaker
Say it ain’t so
My love is a life taker

I can’t confront you
I never could do
That which might hurt you
So try and be cool
When I say
This way is a waterslide away from me
That takes you further every day
So be cool

Say it ain’t so
Your drug is a heartbreaker
Say it ain’t so
My love is a life taker

Dear Daddy
I write you in spite of years of silence
You’ve cleaned up, found Jesus, things are good or so I hear
This bottle of Steven’s awakens ancient feelings
Like father, stepfather, the son is drowning in the flood
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Say it ain’t so
Your drug is a heartbreaker
Say it ain’t so
My love is a life taker

Heineken Club Bottle – Heineken Color Series

Following its exciting unveiling during Milan Design Week 2013 and its Malaysian debut at Heineken Thirst, the exclusive and limited edition Heineken Club Bottle continues to redefine the after-dark drinking experience with the Heineken Color Series in March and April.

The Heineken Club Bottle was the centrepiece of Heineken’s Maggazzini installation at Milan Design Week. Maggazini was conceived as an experimental creative space that featured collaborations between the brand – world renowned for expanding the boundaries of creative culture – and leaders in the design world.

This collection of pioneering designers, artists and publications included Designersblock, PechaKucha, Cool Hunting, Joshua Davis, Tuttobene and Heineken Club Bottle creator, Matt W. Moore.

“The Heineken Club Bottle is one of the latest in a series of global Heineken design initiatives. In Malaysia, we have a long history of working closely with the creative community on cutting edge art projects. The Heineken Color Series enables us to bring those international and local elements together to create a new experience for our Malaysian consumers.”, comments Jessie Chuah, Heineken Marketing Manager.

In normal daylight the aluminium Heineken Club Bottle features a frosted geometric pattern framing a signature green star. After dark, under ultraviolet (UV) light a new story emerges. A new personality of startling fluorescent greens and blues shines through, vividly lighting up the club space to reveal a stunning piece of hand-held art.

Heineken Club Bottle designer Matt W. Moore is one of the most electrifying graphic designers and installation artists of the last ten years. A pioneer of the Vectorfunk style of graphic design, his work blurs the lines between technology and street art.

His Monumental Murals can be found on walls in cities across the world while his work with brands includes collaborations with companies like Heineken and even a design takeover of technology zeitgeist publication Wired.

At the Heineken Color Series, Kuala Lumpur would experience the UV magic of the Heineken Club Bottle. This exclusive series kicked off with BATE and Hulkas presenting a night of fast moving electronica and EDM at Vertigo on Saturday March 8.

The Heineken Club Bottle later moved to KL’s biggest regular night, LOUD featuring Goldfish and Blink at Zouk on March 22.

On April 5, the series closed at The Rabbit Hole, an exciting new concept bar and club on Changkat Bukit Bintang with special guest DJs such as LapSap. The Heineken Color Series brought together music, fashion and design in an unforgettable Heineken Club Bottle experience.

Heineken works to push limits and boundaries to proudly serve you the most innovative and progressive new music experiences.
