Croatian Cuisine Dubrovnik @ Solaris, Mont Kiara
Well, last month in October, a bunch of foodie bloggers gathered at Dubrovnik for a Croatian food feast, thanks to Alice George Communication for inviting us to such event..
Also, thanks to Dina Djumic, the General Manager of Dubrovnik Restaurant for opening the opportunity for the bloggers to do the food review session..
Dubrovnik is situated beside Soho KL in Solaris Mont Kiara..

*True Traditional Croatian Restaurant, Dubrovnik*
A little bit of fun facts about Dubrovnik..The name “Dubrovnik” comes from the actual named city of Dubrovnik which boasts great historical and cultural values that used to be the centre of Mediterranean trade and heritage, very much like our olden days of Malacca..
In the Dubrovnik area, there was a lot of focus on healthy food using organic vegetables and fresh seafood..
Different from typical Western restaurants, culinary multiculturalism has been practiced in Dubrovnik for centuries..
Enough of fun facts, let’s get down to real business..

*The foodies*
There were a number of food bloggers there but I only know a handful of them, namely Wilson, Rachel (not Wilson’s wife), Rebecca, and Bok..

*In-house red and white wines*
If you want some house pouring wine, they have wine imported all the way from Croatia, if I’m not mistaken..

*Assorted Drinks*
Well if you ask me, I got no idea what drink were those, nevertheless they are all quite good..But some of it were a bit too sour for my liking..

*Spaghetti ala Buzara*
Spagetthi ala Buzara, which I reckon is actually aglio oglio, or something like it..Ingredients like fresh prawns, garlic, parsley, a dash of white wine, olive oil, salt, and pepper are being used..
I’m an aglio oglio lover and this pasta can never go wrong for me!
Continue on for MORE mouth-watering photos~!!!

*Sauteed Mushrooms*
Sauteed Mushrooms, cooked with chef’s special sauce, the mushrooms were succulent..

*Prawn Orzo*
As you can see, this Prawn Orzo is very much similar to a risotto’s presentation but it’s not..It’s actually a rice-shaped pasta..
Taste wise, I love it! Although the pasta is a bit sticky just like risotto but the tomatoes being used to cook with it definitely made me have a better appetite..

*Lamb Peka*
Lamb Peka, a traditional Croatian way of preparing meat..A special Croatian spice mix is used to marinate the meat with salt and pepper..
The pungent smell of lamb was still there, somehow I quite like this dish as I’m quite sensitive towards the lamb smell..

*Creamy spinach*
Creamy spinach, is something like mashed potatoes, with some cut spinach added on..
Like I said, it tasted a bit like mashed potatoes but the texture is slightly different from one..IMHO, girls would love this..

*Baked Potato with Cheese*
Baked Potato with Cheese, from the looks of it, it looks like some Malay kuih but it’s not..The whole thing is actually potato, baked with cheese..
It’s so nice that I wish I could keep on eating it, but I have to leave some for the others as well..

*Mini Lamb Burger*
As many people knew I sometimes walked out to the nearest Ramly burger stall to get my supper snack and I always buy beef..
This Mini Lamb Burger is something new to me..The patty is quite thick and yet it’s mini, okay not so mini after all..
Without dipping on any sauce, the burger can be eaten just like that and I love it very much! I think I had 3 of them that night..

*Lamb Goulash*
Lamb Goulash, a very sinful bowl of cheese topped with mutton..It’s something like lasagna but it’s not anything like it..Too sinful to resist..
After our feasting, Chef Zoran Djumic came out of the kitchen and started to prepare dessert for us, the crepe suzette..

*Head Chef Zoran Djumic*
A little bit of fun facts bout the Head Chef Zoran Djumic..Chef Zoran Djumic founded Dubrovnik Restaurant and it’s the only Croatian restaurant in Malaysia and SEA in 2008..
He places a lot of attention and detail to preparation and to the selection of freshest of products and ingredients, combining rustic dishes with the modern cuisine techniques..
Chef Zoran Djumic too places great emphasis on healthy food, using organic vegetables and fresh seafood in providing patrons of Dubrovnik a very unique European cultural dining experience..

*Crepe Suzette*
They were cooked with thrill as we all looking at Chef Zoran’s “fire performance” during the whole crepe suzette commotion..
All in all, it was a fulfilling dinner and meeting the other foodie bloggers were great as well..
I can’t wait to go back for another happy meal..
I wanna try that mini lamb burger!
What’s the price like?
Reiko >> about the price of Chillis or so..
The lamb T____T
very mouth watering indeed
