UEFA Champions’ League Final 2012 With Heineken @ GSC Signature, The Gardens

Football fans witnessed the much anticipated UEFA Champions League (UCL) final battle between Chelsea and Bayern Munich with Chelsea bringing home the coveted trophy.

Didier Drogba scored the decisive goal in the penalty shootout beating Bayern Munich after a dramatic 1-1 draw on 19th May 2012. Chelsea got its first Champions League title, four years after losing in a shootout to Manchester United.

For the first time in Malaysia, the match was telecasted in HD (High Definition) in an exclusive event hosted by Heineken at GSC Signature cineplex at The Gardens; transporting fans to the excitement live from the Allianz Arena in Munich.

Aptly called the Heineken Legendary Night, the event was part of Heineken’s ‘Legendary Football’ campaign for the UEFA Champions League 2012 Finale in Munich.

Whole of GSC Signature cineplex lobby had been turned into a party room where bottles of Heineken were served all night and games like foosball and penalty shoot-out simulations.

Proof that I was really right at the GSC Signature lobby waiting to enter the cinema hall. Haha.

Glenmorangie’s Soundform Fluid Bar @ North Atrium, The Gardens Mall and After Party @ Vertigo

On 20th April 2012, Glenmorangie Malaysia has unveiled the SOUNDFORM Fluid bar at the North Atrium, Gardens Mall..

SOUNDFORM Fluid – a stunning, sculptural bar that brings to life the ‘Unnecessarily Well Made’ philosophy advocated by Glenmorangie..

Officially unveiled at The Gardens in Mid Valley, the SOUNDFORM Fluid bar was designed by renowned architect and interior designer Philip Michael Wolfson for Glenmorangie, and it was inspired by the sonograph reading of the sound of Glenmorangie whisky being poured into a crystal glass..

The event was hosted by Joey G and the bar was well-presented in a few presentation videos shown on the TV screens around the area..

The showcase saw celebrities and single malt aficionados enjoy a night of appreciation as they savoured the ‘Unnecessarily Well Made’..

Thanks to Glenmorangie Ambassador Ben Ng, we had an informal whisky tasting session to unravel the complexity of the Glenmorangie range, from Glenmorangie Original, to La Santa, and lastly Astar..

The Original being the most low-end and Astar being the most high-end among these three, Astar is definitely the favourite amongst the crowd but it’s a tad too strong for me..

If I remembered correctly, Astar has a slight hint of honey smell, pretty fragrant, but still too strong for my palate..

Glenmorangie single malt whisky obtains its multi-layered aromas and kaleidoscopic flavours through maturation in fine oak casks, obtained from the Ozark Mountains..

While there are many perfectly good single malt whiskies matured in casks that  are re-used up to eight times, Glenmorangie goes the extra mile for that added elegance in its whisky by only ever using their casks twice..

At its Tain distillery in the Scottish Highlands, Glenmorangie employs the tallest whisky stills in Scotland, ensuring only the purest vapours are used in the spirit.

After which, the crowd adjourned to Vertigo for the after-party featuring US DJ duo Manufactured Superstars, who supplied a steady flow of house, dance and electro pop into the night..

Maxis iPhone 4 Launching @ Gardens

The hype was already buzzing in the evening of 23rd September 2010 where Maxis officially launched the much anticipated iPhone 4 at the stroke of midnight on 24th September 2010 at The Gardens Hotel’s Grand Ballroom..

Some people were already in queue since lunch time to be the first group to get their hands on the iPhone 4..

I reached The Gardens slightly after 10.30pm and the queue was pretty long, holding at least 200-300 people and still counting..

Apart from Harry Potter new book craze, I would never thought Malaysians can be this enthusiastic to own a gadget as compared to what we usually see on TV where Americans camped days before the launching of gadgets like PlayStation consoles, iPad, or even for a movie ticket!

The long queue on a midnight that actually surprised me..If it’s launched in the morning or noon then it’s still acceptable but at midnight?

People walking around greeted by Maxis promoters showing them the iPhone 4 and I must say the response was quite overwhelming..

The whole launch event was being broadcast live on terrestrial TV channel (TV3) and also some of Astro channels (Astro Awani)..

They did a countdown from 10 to congratulate the 60 first iPhone owners under Maxis network..

After that there were lucky draws to win an iPhone 4 for the members of media as well..

Also congratulations to Kelli and Jenifer to be chosen in the Maxis10 reviewer for iPhone 4..

Now talk about iPhone 4, it features FaceTime for enhanced video calling and Apple’s new Retina display, the highest resolution display ever built into a phone, resulting in super crisp text, images and video..

I’ve seen the comparison between the iPhone 4 and 3GS, it’s stunningly beautifully where it’s heading towards the HD era..

iPhone 4 also features a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, HD video recording, Apple’s a4 processor, a 3-axis gyro and up to 40% longer talk time – in a beautiful all-new design of glass and stainless steel that is the thinnest smartphone in the world..

iPhone 4 also comes with iOS 4, the newest version of the world’s most advanced mobile operating system, which includes over 100 new features..

Kris Allen Showcase @ The Gardens, KL Malaysia

That’s right, the winner of American Idol Season 8 was here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for a showcase 1 week prior to CNY..

Interesting fact about Kris Allen is that he’s the first Idol winner to perform in Malaysia..David Archuleta is not counted because he is not the winner..He’s a runner-up..

It sure is special because the to go to the showcase, it’s by invitation only, no money can buy..Many thanks to STAR World and Sony Music again..

If you didn’t know yet, he was here to promote his latest album, titled Kris Allen..

And boy I’m glad I was the lucky few to be able to stand closer to the stage as compared to few hundreds of others..

These are the people of VIP, media, and winners of Kris Allen contests..Almost everyone was pushing their way as near to the stage as possible..

JJ and Ean of Hitz.fm were the hosts of the night with their funny and crazy antics..

Roughly at about 9pm, sound-check was done and the band who played for Kris Allen came out to get ready, followed by Kris Allen himself..

He did a few covers with a bit of jazzy rhythm to it..

Not like I didn’t expect things like screamings and shoutings from teenage girls and/or kids, but they really rocked the house down..

I was almost deafened when I was walking around near to the crowd..

Well I guess I’ve done enough of talking..More photos after the jump..
