RSS Feeds In iTalk Whoa Made Easy

Well I have never really tried using RSS feed to follow blogs or any other website because I found it quite complicated or rather difficult to subscribe to any RSS Feed, without any proper instruction back then..

I was kinda reluctant to use RSS Feeds, or perhaps too lazy to do it, until it’s featured in iTalk Whoa..

RSS is short for “Really Simple Syndication”..

Now what’s the function or thing that RSS actually does?

RSS Feeds enable you to get news feeds and updates on any topics that interest you fast and easy..You don’t have to check or be on the lookout on what’s coming..

It delivers the headline, short summary and a link back to the full text every time an RSS news feed is updated..

How does it benefit you?

• If you have been worried about giving your name and email address to subscribe to any newsletter, the RSS feed in iTalk Whoa! has come to your rescue..Subscribing to RSS feed does not require you to do so..No more e-mails and no spams too..Your privacy is assured..

• You will get updates automatically on your iTalk Whoa’s account..

• For those who have got used to bookmaking pages, this is no longer necessary..

• If you are a content owner or publisher, you are able to distribute your contents without being sent to the junk folder..

Now let’s see how do we set up the RSS Feeds on the iTalk Whoa account..

First, click on the ‘New Group’ and put a name for your Category, say Blogs, News, Sports, etc..

Then on the Feed Description, you can put the name of the website you are following and then paste the URL of the site that is ‘feeding’ you..

If you are not sure, you can try out on The Star RSS page for some news feeds or you can generate your own feed on any website via Google FeedBurner..

Just click on ‘Add New’ after you have named the Feed Description and insert the RSS feed URL..

The system might have a bug that it will not refresh after you have add in the URLs..

Just logout and sign-in again every time you have edited or updated your RSS Feeds..

Once you are signed-in, expand the ‘Categories’ in the left panel and choose whichever feed that you want to see, click on it and the feeds will appear on the right panel..

It’s that easy..And the good thing is it will show the last 10 entries/posts/articles of the website that you’ve followed..

Now I can just check out the titles of the sites I’m following and there’s no need to bookmark them anymore!

This is like my favorite feature in iTalkWhoa and I like it a lot because it made it so easy..

It’s so easy that I don’t know how to redirect the feeds into my mail, or maybe too lazy to find out how, but in iTalkWhoa everything is laid out nicely and easy to do..

Maybe you would want to subscribe to my feed as well? My RSS Feeds can be subscribed at

Launching Of iTalk WHOA @ Borneo Rainforest Club

On 7th April, TM launched its newly revamped iTalk brand with iTalk WHOA!, a new platform introduced by TM that is targeted at social media users..

Wilson and I braved through the traffic jam and all to Sunway’s Borneo Rainforest Club, with an empty stomach..

All image taken from Joshua unless stated..

*iTalk WHOA registration counter*

The launch is meant for bloggers and a bit of media people so we actually felt “at home” because of the many familiar faces..

Until that night only I know Adibah Noor is the spokesperson for iTalkWHOA!

*Nigel, Ren, Kelli, Ceddy*

Before they kickstart the event, we dug-in with the buffet style dinner..The prawns and salmons were awesome..

Glad they prepared dinner, appreciated much..

*VIP from TM iTalk WHOA giving speech on stage*

A bit of introduction of what to expect on iTalk Whoa and Q&A sessions right after that..

As according to TM iTalk WHOA people, the platform is best to run on IE browser..I hope in the near future it’s good to run on other browsers as we have a wide varieties of browsers in the market now..

But there was one very weird question from the crowd..The guy asked “Why do you do it on Windows OS and not others?”..

I wonder what he meant by the “other OS”..Hmm..Unless he’s referring to Mac OS and/or OS for mobiles..

Otherwise his question actually sounded like “Why is KFC selling only chickens and not other meat?”..That’s why it’s called Kentucky FRIED Chicken *shrugs*..

Do read on to know better of the highlighted paragraphs and of course the event night..

iTalkWhoa A New Social Media Platform

If you have been using TweetDeck for your Twitter, Microsoft Outlook for your email, and organizer for your schedule plannings, why not merge everything into one, that is iTalkWhoa..

The new iTalkWhoa is a Social Media client aka website-cum-application-cum-portal that has few things all merged into one platform..

*iTalkWhoa interface*

As you can see from the picture above, on the sidebar it has buttons for Mail, Contacts, Calendar and Notes, Twitter, and SMS..

As for introduction, let’s just look at the functions available..First off, Mail..

*Mail settings*

In Mail, you can actually integrate your mail (i.e – Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo) with iTalkWhoa..

There’s a long list of mail servers to be chosen from and don’t be surprise if you see any uncommon ones..

Once you have integrate your email with iTalkWhoa, the function of push-email can be enabled for emails to be pushed to any kind of mobile phones!

Good thing is it has 1GB storage for a default account and can sign up for additional storage with charges apply..

I personally think the Push-Email feature is very good because not all mobile phone has the Push-Email built-in so this feature in iTalkWhoa will definitely benefits those who have older versions of mobile phone without having to upgrade their mobile phone..

*Calendar and Notes*

In Calendar and Notes, it acts as an organizer where you could plan your meetings or schedules in a proper timetable with few options to view it..

This can be quite useful for me as I always tend to forget my own schedules especially when it comes to events and meetings coz I sometimes either messed up or have forgotten some of it..

Other than the conventional Mails and Events, iTalkWhoa has even integrated a Twitter-client into its portal..

*iTalkWhoa Twitter*

It’s a good thing that iTalkWhoa has the initiative to include one of the fastest moving application on the Internet and I bet it will not die at least in the next 5 years..

Upon signing up, you will receive RM5 FREE in your account and that RM5 is ready to be used for SMS..

I tried it on my mobile phone and this is what it shows..

*The text I sent to myself*

It’s kinda fun if you send it to your friends who are staying overseas and all..

Once you have chosen the “Country” of the recipient the cost of SMS will appear beside the number..

So you don’t have to worry about hidden charges and all..Just sign-up and check out the rates!

As for VoIP service, you can use it to call any mobile or fixed line..You can also chat for free with another iTalkWhoa user..

Call rates applies to different countries..

I think I’ll leave the more in-depth talkings in next entry when I got used to the portal..
