St Patrick’s Day @ Changkat Bukit Bintang

St. Patrick’s Day, an Irish celebration occurring on 17th March every year is celebrated around the world and it’s the second year in Malaysia that Guinness has taken it to the street at Changkat Bukit Bintang..

With a staggering 435,456 people joining the campaign around the world in the spirit of friendliness, GWR has confirmed two new Guinness World Records have been set, making St Patrick’s Day officially the world’s ‘Friendliest Day of the Year’..

To verify that the 17th March 2012 was officially ‘The Friendliest Day of the Year’, GWR has spent the past 12 hours painstakingly counting the number of online pledges and the number of people who attended the St Patrick’s celebrations around the world for two GWR titles – the Most pledges received for a campaign and the Largest St Patrick’s Day celebration worldwide..

I’ve missed the 2011 street festival so I thought I should join them last Saturday..Fortunately I didn’t miss out a lot because they have the Arthur’s Lounge and Comedy Club KL this year!

Global Guinness League of Excellence Award and GAB Brewery Tour

If you have noticed, more youngsters nowadays drink Guinness Draught at Irish pubs and bars..

I guess it’s that good and it wouldn’t be surprising because Guinness Malaysia has won the coveted Global Guinness League of Excellence Award (GLoE) for the 4th consecutive time in a row for brewing the best Guinness in the world!

Congratulations and thank you for the hardwork and effort to bring the best of Guinness to my fellow Guinness drinkers and I! :D

Guinness Malaysia had won the award in close competition involving 50 international breweries, including the top breweries in the America, Asia Pacific, and Africa, for consistently delivering great looking, great tasting Guinness every time, everywhere..

*GAB Brewery at Sungei Way, PJ*

Brought Daphne along and we were introduced and explained on the key ingredients and steps being used to brew a good quality of Guinness..

Key ingredients included roasted and malted barley which provides the foundation for the flavour of the beer, finest female hops, purity and softness of water is prized, and the famous Guinness Yeast descended down from Arthur Guinness’s time..

Then we were treated with a brewery tour to have a look on their packaging, from preparing the bottles in line to filling up the bottles with beer and putting them in carton stacks..

It’s was quite an interesting tour considering brewery tour is not something common like any bread factory for highschoolers..And too bad photo-taking was not allowed so yeah, everything has to be discreet :P

*Cans lining up*

It was really an eye-opener..Then we were taught how to serve a glass of Guinness Draught from the tap..

They actually showed us how to pour the perfect pint on few steps and even how to drink the pint of Guinness with confidence and pride!

St Patrick’s Day @ Sid’s Pub, Damansara Heights [Non-Halal]

In conjunction with St Patrick’s Day, Sid’s Pub had the few of us over to their 4th branch outlet at Damansara Heights for a food review session, all thanks to G2, GAB, and of course Sid’s Pub..

Just a small group of Wilson, Peter, Daphne, and I, we were greeted by Frank, one of the person in-charge of Sid’s Pub..I’ve got to know Frank at the Bangsar South branch and he’s known to be pretty friendly and warm to his customers..

The new Sid’s Pub has been in operation since August 2010 and it’s around HERE in the Google Maps..

Without further ado, each one of us was served with a pint of Guinness to toast for St Patrick’s Day..

On a side note, Frank told us that GAB has notified them that Sid’s Pub is the highest selling restaurant/pub/bar for Guinness (on the tap) last year..

As you can see, the set up of the pub is pretty much the same like other Sid’s Pub outlets..The only difference is the arrangement of the tables and seats..

Let’s cut the crap and make way for the food, shall we?

*Blue Cheese Mushroom*

Our starter would be Blue Cheese Mushroom..

First time trying the blue cheese, I love it..I know it has lots of types and some people didn’t like the smell of blue cheese, the one served here is pretty good, IMHO..

The toast goes pretty well with the blue cheese..Dip the bread in the blue cheese with a bit of mushroom, it makes my tummy growling for a starter..

Nice cheesy Blue Cheese Mushroom at just RM14..
