FLOW – Sign

FLOW, a Japanese rock band which is no stranger to anime fans, for their contributions in opening and ending songs of a few anime including Naruto and Code Geass..

The group’s base started off in 1993 with two brothers Koshi (elder, vocals) and Take (younger, guitar) began playing music..

They then joined by Keigo (vocals) and Goto (bass) in 1998, and Iwasaki (drums) in 2000..

Their notable songs include “Go!!” (Naruto 4th OP), “Days” (Eureka Seven 1st OP), and “Colors” (Code Geass: Lelouch of The Rebellion 1st OP)..

“Sign”, Naruto Shippuden’s 6th opening, is quite an energetic song just like their other singles..

If you watch Naruto Shippuden, the opening clip of the anime for this song is quite thrilling and it’s also where Jiraiya died in the battle against Pain..

Where as the music video for the song itself, the concept of light-painting is being used in the simple video..

So here is FLOW’s “Sign” music video and also lyrics..

Evangelion 2.0 : You Can (Not) Advance

Watched Evangelion 2.0 : You Can (Not) Advance courtesy of e@Curve (formerly Cineleisure Damansara)..Got the tickets from Robb the hamsap handsome guy wtf >.<

Evangelion 2.0 is the second part of a tetralogy movies of Evangelion..

It is said that the first 3 parts are almost similar to the original series with the final instalment to be an original production..

But in this Evangelion 2.0 : You Can (Not) Advance, almost half of the movie is already talking a different approach in its story-telling..

A new character of Maki Illustrious Makinami, a new EVA pilot is introduced..Some of the plots have been changed and yet it’s as thrilling as ever!

If you have watched the original series of Neon Genesis Evangelion, you would already the pace and style of this animation, slow and mind-boggling..

So if you are not really an anime fan but wanted to try something new, this MIGHT not be the right thing for you..Do choose your movie again..

Although I have forgotten most parts of the original series, I enjoyed the movie very much..

If you are watching this movie, DO NOT LEAVE WHEN THE CREDITS IS COMING OUT..

There’s a sneak peek of what to expect in Evangelion 3.0, after the credits..

In conjunction with Evangelion 2.0, here’s a very nice song called Komm Susser Todd, sung by Hideaki Anno, the producer and director of Evangelion series..

The song Komm Susser Todd is actually an insert song for the original series..

It’s actually a sad song but the tune and rhythm is so joyous and happy-go-lucky kinda mood..It’s plain genius!

Komm Susser Todd – Hideaki Anno

I know, I know I’ve let you down
I’ve been a fool to myself
I thought that I could
live for no one else
But now through all the hurt and pain
It’s time for me to respect
the ones you love
mean more than anything
So with sadness in my heart
I feel the best thing I could do
is end it all
and leave forever
What’s done is done, it feels so bad
what once was happy now is sad
I’ll never love again
my world is ending

I wish that I could turn back time
cos now the guilt is all mine
can’t live without the trust from those you love.
I know we can’t forget the past
you can’t forget love and pride
because of that its killing me inside

It all returns to nothing, it all comes
tumbling down, tumbling down,
tumbling down
It all returns to nothing, I just keep
letting me down, letting me down,
letting me down
In my heart of hearts,
I know that I could never love again
I’ve lost everything, everything
everything that matters to me,
matters in this world

I wish that I could turn back time
cos now all the guilt is mine
can’t live without
the trust from those you love
I know we can’t forget the past
you can’t forget love and pride
because of that, it’s killing me inside

It all returns to nothing, it all comes
tumbling down, tumbling down,
tumbling down
it all returns to nothing, I just keep
letting me down, letting me down,
letting me down
It all returns to nothing, it all comes
tumbling down, tumbling down,
tumbling down
it all returns to nothing, I just keep
letting me down, letting me down,
letting me down…

Abingdon Boys School – Kimi no Uta (Tokyo 8.0 Magnitude OP)

It’s been quite some time since my last Japanese song review..I think it’s good that I put up a song from a not so new Japanese anime..

Abingdon Boys School, formed in 2005, named after the British independent school Abingdon School, in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, where the rock band Radiohead is established..

Led by Takanori Nishikawa, the vocal behind T.M Revolution, together with Sunao (guitar), Hitoshi Shibasaki (ex Wands guitarist), Toshiyuki Kishi (keyboard), Ikuo (bass), and Kozy Hasegawa (drums)..

I should have known by listening to their earlier tracks like “Innocent Sorrow” (D.Gray Man OP1), “Strength” (Soul Eater ED4), and few others, the voice is definitely very familiar..

T.M Revolution, best-known for their many tracks in some of the Gundam series especially Gundam SEED, the voice of Nishikawa is no stranger to me..

Now move back to the song Kimi no Uta by Abingdon Boys School, an opening song (OP) for Tokyo 8.0 Magnitude, an anime with lots of good reviews..

It’s about Tokyo fall into a chaotic situation where a 8.0 magnitude earthquake hit it and the story goes on from there..

It’s thrilling and touching and whatever it is..

I have the whole season but have yet to watch a single episode..

Anyhow, here’s the MTV and lyrics for Kimi no Uta by Abingdon Boys School..

Oasis – Falling Down

Oasis, a household name among Brit rock bands if you have been following the genre since early 90′s..

The current band members now consists of Liam Gallagher (lead vocals, tambourine), Noel Gallagher (guitars, vocals, keyboards, bass), Colin Archer (guitars, keyboard, harmonica, bass), Andy Bell (bass, keyboards, guitars), and Chris Sharnock (drums)..

I first heard of Oasis from their single ‘Roll With It’ from their second album ‘What’s The Story? (Morning Glory)’..

Later on more hits such as ‘Wonderwall’, ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’, ‘Stop Crying Your Heart’, etc etc cemented their status as one of British most well-known rock bands, IMHO..

‘Falling Down’, is the final single by Oasis, taken from their 2008 seventh studio album ‘Dig Out Your Soul’..

This is also the fifth song that Noel sung, instead of the usual lead vocals by Liam..

‘Falling Down’ is used as the opening song for the much-hyped anime, ‘Eden of The East’..

‘Eden of The East’ (Higashi no Eden) is one of the few animes that is not adapted from any manga nor game..It’s an original story for the anime-production..

This 11-episodes anime is definitely something worth-watching..Its conflict, mysteries, and complications make the storyline unpredictable..

Here’s the music video of ‘Falling Down’ by Oasis as well as the opening video for ‘Eden of The East’..

Oasis – Falling Down

The summer sun, it blows my mind
Is falling down on all that I’ve ever known
Time will kiss the world goodbye
Falling down on all that I’ve ever known
Is all that I’ve ever known

A dying scream makes no sound
Calling out to all that I’ve ever known
Here am I, lost and found
Calling out to all

We live a dying dream
If you know what I mean
All that I’ve ever known
It’s all that I’ve ever known

Catch the wheel that breaks the butterfly
I cried the rain that fills the ocean wide
I tried to talk with God to no avail
Calling Him in and out of nowhere
Said if You won’t save me, please don’t waste my time

All that I’ve ever known
All that I’ve ever known
It’s all that I’ve ever known

Catch the wheel that breaks the butterfly
I cried the rain that fills the ocean wide
I tried to talk with God to no avail
Calling my name and out of nowhere
Said if You won’t save me, please don’t waste my time

The summer sun, it blows my mind
It’s falling down on all that I’ve ever known
Time will kiss the world goodbye
Falling down on all that I’ve ever known
Is all that I’ve ever known

Last Alliance – Hekireki

Been introducing few English songs in a row and now it’s back to Japanese song..

Last Alliance, a rock band based in Machida, Tokyo, formed in 2002..

This song “Hekireki”, taken from their latest single, new dawn, is used as the opening song for Hajime no Ippo : New Challenger..

Hajime no Ippo, a boxing manga/anime that has been dated back way back to 1989 with 76-episode of anime adaptation from the 86-volumes of comic book..

The 86-volumes of comic book is still on-going til now, while the anime is now on second season, namely Hajime no Ippo : New Challenger..

Now that Ippo Makunochi has grown up and all, Madhouse has revived the the second season in September 2008, and its first airing date was in January 2009, with the 26-episodes of anime ended in June 2009..

It’s a very intense anime where the characters exchange punches with each other, a highly recommended anime and manga..

This song is very apt to the anime’s theme of intense boxing scene and all..

Here’s the opening song of the second season, Hajime no Ippo : New Challenger, “Hekireki”..
