Miss Hypertune – Semi-Finals @ Mist Club

Last weekend I joined the fellow Alphanatics to the semi-finals of Miss Hypertune, an annual model search made popular by the car magazine, Hypertune..

SONY Xplod was one of the sponsors so we Alpharians got to get some “media” passes and went to the event as photographers and all..

IMHO, some of the girls really cannot make it, as in their appeal..But I should applaud them for their courage to join such events..

In the crowd there were one Japanese, one Russian, one Kazakh, one Indonesian Chinese, one Korean, and the rest were Malaysian Chinese..

Like many other events, most of these girls are student and/or freelancers..

So the models were all posing in front of Mist Club before they went on stage to be judged by the panel judges, who half of it were previous winners or runners-up..

*Evonne*

I’ve found my new love among the contestants..My favourite contestants of all is no other than Evonne..She’s the tallest among, standing at 172cm if not mistaken..

She’s a tad bit skinny, but it’s okay..She’s sweet, tall, and thin..My love~~

Look who is my new found second love..

MACC (Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians) First EGM (Easy Going Meeting)

When we talk about Chinese comedian who usually comes into our mind? Stephen Chow is an instant answer..

How about our very own Malaysian Chinese comedian? Just in case if you have forgotten, remember the local comedy sitcom Kopitiam?

Yes, the used-to-be gay-ish looking Douglas Lim is one of the very few (or maybe the only one) local Chinese comedians that we have..

It’s hard for a Chinese to break into the local comedy scene especially with the existence of comedian group Senario, Afdlin Shauki, and Harith Iskandar, it makes matter worse..

But Douglas never gave up there and then..He searched  far and wide around Malaysia and found two like-minded (and like-coloured) people..

Together they are M.A.C.C – Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians, and this is their first ever EGM..

No not Extraordinary General Meeting like what MCA is having..It’s M.A.C.C‘s EGM, Easy Going Meeting..

Instead of debating who should be sacked and who should be appointed as party president, their agenda are funny observations, song parodies, impersonations, and witty revelations from the founding memebrs of M.A.C.C – Douglas Lim, Chi Ho, and Jenhan..

Click HERE and HERE for reference regarding the other two unknown performers..

Creative Spelling Bee Game

I still remember when I was in Primary school, I played a lot of games with my friends in the class during class intervals, recess times, and eveny before and after school hour..

Like most girls when they were young, they played batu seremban, masak-masak, or rope-jumping (lompat tali)..

As for me, studied in an all-boys’ school, a lot of games to be played such as chopping ball (bola cop), marbles (guli), tops (gasing), etc etc..

In class, we usually played UNO card game, Monopoly, bottle caps (penutup botol), and some others..

But those games need tools or a platform to be played on..

We creatively innovated a conventional game and we need to use our mind and indirectly make us listen to the radio or watch TV more..

We actually created a spelling bee game where we only use titles of songs, artistes, movies, actors and actresses, TV shows, and the likes, you get the drift..

The rule is, sit in a circle, take turns, and the title/name cannot be repeated..

Most importantly, the next player has to continue from what the previous player has let off with..

Let say, Third Eye Blind ends with D..So the next player has to start with D, say Dungeons and Dragons..Then the next player starts with S, you get the drift..

For no reason I reminisced the game when I was staring at the monitor few nights ago, then start to write on my Facebook status..

*Gaga glack sheep wtf*

Yuinyin started with Poker Face, because she thought it has to be something related with Lady Gaga..

Chris Tock then went gaga glack sheep wtf..That’s the most hilarious thing wtf..LOL..

After a while, they get the drift..Few others joined the fun randomly but Min Li, Satkuru, and Yuin Yin lasted longer than the others..

The hardest part was we took turns randomly and it’s subjected to your Internet connection speed..Isn’t that challenging?

*The full details*

All in all, I’ve managed to get about 70 comments a.k.a names/titles in that status alone, with only 4 players..You can check out that page HERE..

I never thought that there is people who would joined the game as I posted it out of the blue to see if there’s any response..

I wonder how it would be if there are say, no need much, 7 players..

YCOM @ Mist Club FTW

Young Comedians Of Malaysia is on the move again yo..

Went to Mist Club last Thursday for the YCOM Comedy Thursday..

Although, honestly, the crowd wasn’t quite pleasing but on the positive side, it’s getting better compared to their first appearance~! :D

It’s not a weird sight, considering Mist Club is relatively new in this clubbing industry so it’s all understandable it needs some time to build its fan-base here in Bangsar..

I guess it’s a matter of time for YCOM to create a new fan-base in Bangsar, after much success in KL and Damansara area..

*The dedicate fans*

These are the dedicated fans, like *cough* me *cough*..The familiar we see them in most of the YCOM’s acts..

dsc02885-1-copy
*Alfred*

Prepared with his Indian jokes to counter the so-called Indian-filled area, Bangsar, but most of the patrons that night made up of Chinese, so he said..

dsc02889-1-copy
*Jenhan*

Jenhan, IMHO, one of the talented ones who always come out with fresh jokes and very much to our roots, which is easier to digest for certain groups of people who sometimes couldn’t understand jokes that are a bit Westernized..

It’s not easy to come up with fresh ideas and all..So more often, I think it’s definitely fine to put in some Western jokes that are much general so that people could understand more..

It’s a waste to think of something new but the crowd doesn’t understand the whole thing..FLAT~!!

dsc02890-1-copy
*L>R – Alfred, Jenhan, Faisal, and Sri*

The usual bunch in Mist Club..If you happened to be somewhere around Mist Club say, Midvalley after work or after dinner, got no where to go, do head to Mist Club..

The YCOM Comedy Thursday is on every LAST THURSDAY of every month..

So the next comedy night would be on 30th July 2009..Mark down your calendar would ya?

But before that, do take note that this coming Thursday, 2nd July 2009, is YCOM’s first night at Velvet Underground, Zouk KL..Suppose to be in Little Havana, Changkat Bukit Bintang but Little Havana is not under renovation..

I heard they’ll be trying out a whole new concept, just like “Whose Line Is It Anyway” style..

Be there yo~!! Check out the Facebook for more info..

YCOM Comedy Night @ Mist Club

Well, the other day I went to Mist Club with Joshua, Fuzz, and P.Dandelion for the YCOM Comedy Night..

It was their first appearance in Mist Club and I would say it’s expected that the turn out was a bit disappointing..

YCOM actually has quite a huge fan base and it’s increasing day by day..

Anyhow I was surprised that they still continued with the show despite the bad turn out..That’s the spirit man..

First, it was Chi Ho who did the opening act and man, he’s great..LOL~!!

dsc01596-copy
*Chi Ho*

The Prime Minister definitely bought his cabinet from Courts Mammoth~!! No doubt about it~!! LOL~!!

Watch the clip that we’ve video recorded at Joshua – Lousy Kabinet..

Then, the second act was Kavin and he did it with the condom joke again..Nice one..

dsc01603-copy
*Kavin*

Came the third act, who was Faisal, the crowd started to build up a bit as cheers and applause can be heard joke after joke..

dsc01606-copy
*Faisal*

I quite like Faisal’s antics..He’s a Malay but not the really typical ones..He likes to joke about Malay and their privileges, which is a good thing~!!

And I heard he’s performing alongside Harith Iskandar in No Black Tie soon..Hmm, I shall wait and see..

Last but not least, I most enjoyed with Jenhan’s crazy shit..Perhaps it’s the first time I see him performs so yeah..He’s one funny fella with lots of Malay dramas..

dsc01611-copy
*Jenhan*

He’s very natural with his Malay accent and acting like a Malay like what Malays usually do in TV dramas and all..

Not bad coz nowadays not many Chinese can speak fluent Malay, what’s more to act like one of them?

Watch the clip on how he mocked the Malay TV dramas at Joshua – Malay Language Also Known As English Beta Ver2.0..

Nigel VS Yatz @ Sunburst 09

Well, if you still remember that I’ve blogged about Sunburst KL 09 at Bukit Kiara Equestrian not long ago..Before Estranged performance we actually played some fun-filled games..

Guess I’ll call it The Wrestler..Kelli suggested that Nuffnang’s January 09 Featured Blogger, Nigel, should have a real fight with Nuffnang’s March 09 Featured Blogger, yours truly..

Both of us think we should have a duel to see who is better in blogging fighting..

Photos taken by David..

dsc00530-copy
*Nigel and yours truly*

So, people were queueing and waiting for their turn to play the game..

It was our turn after like about 5 rounds of games from other people, so we went into the wrestling suit..

dsc00554-copy
*The funny wrestling suit*

The wrestling suit is all spongy and pad-filled to avoid any unforeseen injury..

dsc00558-copy
*FIGHT~!!!*

Both of us were ready to rumble in our wrestling suit and the referee blew the whistle to kickoff the game..

dsc00559-copy
*Tango way*

Before us, there few players played recklessly where they actually ran towards their opponent and eventually lose balance and fell on the ground without the opponent doing anything..

So, we did it slow and steady ala sumo type, push front and back..

dsc00557-copy
*Scuffling*

Then Nigel couldn’t stand it, he pushed forward and adjusted my steps a little..He actually fell to the ground..

To wrap off the wrestling game, one have to do his/her signature move..So here I go..

dsc00562-copy
*BUARGHHH~!!! DIE~!!! DIE~!!!*

It was very fun and all..It would be nice to be included in any house party..LOL..

Watch the video that Christock recorded and it was Nigel who did the signature move on me..
