“Does this count as annoying?”*pok pok pok pok pok*..Yes, that’s the cute action by the little girl Agnes while she slaps her own cheeks to create that cute annoying sound..
Despicable Me 3D, one of the most hyped animations this year with the cute little yellow Minions that like to punch and beat around the bush face..
Thanks to UIP for the movie ticket for such an early screening..

The plot centers around Gru, a villain trying to be, well, one of the greatest villains of all time, try to steal the moon..
He’s pretty nasty and wicked towards anyone or anything, except his mother..
The usual plot of hero vs villain is so yesteryear and that’s how Despicable Me sells, villain vs villain..
Everything is so evil they even have an underground Bank of Evil to fund the villains in their evil deeds..
I bet most people would ask whether it is worth to watch in 3D and all..
Indeed Despicable Me tried to put in as much 3D elements as they could but it’s hardly felt in most scenes..
Don’t get me wrong..Hardly felt 3D elements here I was referring to eye-popping scenes such as bullets flying right beside your head, and something that actually interacts with the audience..

The one I felt the most was the roller coaster scene where it does really feels like you are sitting in it going down the track at 90-degree..
Other than that, all in all I think it’s just so-so, maybe because I’ve had high expectation in it..
So my advice is enter the cinema with empty or lower expectations, that would be better..
And of course it’s a perfect family movie because kids would love the cute Minions..

I can assure you that none of the scene involving the lil’ Minions isn’t funny at all..They can make the cinema laugh hysterically with just one movement, or one word in their language..
With 3 children character of Margo, Edith, and Agnes, you can also expect quite a number of “awww moments” in this movie..
Overall I would give it a 7/10 rating..
P/S - Stay seated at the end of the movie with your 3D glasses on because that’s what I hope most of those 3D element scene to be included in the movie itself..
Enjoy the spectacular effects where the Minions trying to reach out to the audience by sticking out their hands, using a ladder, and also long-sharp rocket-shaped thingy..
That’s the famous phrase from Buzz Lightyear when I first heard it in 1995..It’s already 15 years and it’s still one of the most catchy phrase till now..
I still remember it’s the first full-fledged animation movie that I have watched, Toy Story..
Well I can’t really remember what was the first installment about and all I can recall is Buzz Lightyear is a new toy in Andy’s place..That’s it..
Never mind bout Toy Story 2 coz I didn’t watch that..
First off, thanks to Kate for giving out her Nuffnang tickets and I was the beneficiary..
Toy Story 3 in 3D, I think it doesn’t really matter because I didn’t really felt much of the effect in it but I won’t restraint you from watching it..
Furthermore, before the movie starts, there’s a short film by Pixar called “Night and Day”, very interesting and enjoyable in the 3D effect..I like that short film very much..
Anyhow, the whole plot of Toy Story 3 is about Andy (toys’ owner) moving on to college life..
*Taken from Google Images*
Even though he’s quite grown up, got rid of some of his toys, he still kept few of his favourites, just like me..
I still have some of my old toys with me, including Transformers, M.A.S.K, StarCom, Lego, etc etc..I like my things a lot, hence all the rubbish in my room
Andy is contemplating whether to throw them away or keep them in the attic..
So all these talking and self-walking toys ran from Andy’s crib, thinking Andy doesn’t want them anymore and ended up in Sunnyside, with pun intended, I think..
The whole drama in Sunnyside is laughable, emotional, and, horror..Yes, no kidding, in the kid’s way, think Chucky..
Every moment of Barbie and Ken is simply hilarious, in a way or another, because we all know both of them are a couple but in the movie itself they have never met before..
*Taken from Google Images*
If you grew up with Barbie around you (yes for me too coz my sisters played them!) and if you roughly understand the relationship between Ken and Barbie you would totally laugh your ass off!
Buzz Lightyear showed his manly split Latino personality and he’s a great dancer too! Not to forget Mister Potato Head, damn funny moment when he’s on a piece of prata..
Who could ever forget Sheriff Woody, the supposed protagonist in Toy Story franchise..
The whole movie is about the toys having faith in their owners and the love showered from the owners to their toys and all..
I actually teared at the ending part coz it makes me think of my toys
Character development (not all of it) is pretty good..I love movies with decent character development..
Overall it I give it an overwhelming 9.5/10 for a fun, hilarious, and adventurous family movie that would bring back lots of flash backs of your childhood
It’s also a nice wrap-up for the franchise and I don’t see any reason for Pixar to come up with another sequel that might spoil the whole thing like what I feel towards Shrek 4 : Forever After..It’s good to stay what it is now..
DISCLAIMER : This review is just based on my personal opinion on an anime as an anime fan myself..It’s totally based on my own amateur knowledge which I’ve accumulated by watching most of the anime that I owned, check HERE..
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is an 11-episode anime where you can roughly tell from the title..It’s about Tokyo, basically the whole of Japan experiencing an earthquake of 8.0 magnitude..
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (TM8) is not based on a true story but it’s a hypothetical situation where the author or whoever has done a thorough research to relate things as real as it gets..
Thinking that some time back Japan had been hit with some earthquakes so it’s totally not impossible to happen again, with bigger magnitude..
TM8 started off with Mirai Onosawa, one of the main characters in the anime..Mirai, a middle schoolgirl who is very angsty with her life as school kid..
In other word she’s kinda rebellious..Not to the extent that she takes drugs and all, just that she always think that kids are always been taken for granted by the adults..
Everything she does seems wrong in the eyes of the adults, or maybe it’s just in her mind..
So one day Mirai brings her younger brother, Yuuki Onosawa, to a robot exhibition far away from their home while the parents busy with their jobs..
When they are at the exhibition, the earthquake strikes and buildings collapsed, fire broke out..
Then they met Mari Kusakabe, a stranger who seems too good that Mirai doubted her in the beginning and slowly trusting her, and also adults..
TM8 is about the journey of Mirai, Yuuki, and Mari going back to their homes..Mari stays in a city nearby where Mirai and Yuuki stay so she offered to bring them along..
*L>R - Mirai, Mari, Yuuki*
It’s a very heart-wrenching anime and if you are an emotional person, most likely you will breakdown into tears, like me
When I was watching TM8, I could totally relate it with recent earthquakes like the big one in China 1-2 years ago, and many other natural disasters..
I didn’t quite felt anything when I watched those kinda news on TV, seeing people trying really hard to search for their family members and all..
I know, it’s kinda pathetic for me to only realized those feelings from an anime instead of real incidents..
TM8’s character development is very good and I think 11-episode is just right, not too short for the rush nor too long to be draggy..
As soon as it reaches to the final episodes, the story has a little surprise with a tragic twist, that totally made me broke into tears, like waterfall..
Based on Anime News Network (ANN), TM8 is rated “very good” on a median rating of 408 ratings..
The OP is “Kimi no Uta“ by Abingdon Boys School, and “Melody” by Shion Tsuji for the ED..
Mirai is voiced by Satomi Hanamura, who also voiced for Kanae Sumita (5 Centimeters Per Second) and acted in Battle Royale as Yuka Nakagawa..
Yuuki is voiced by Yumiko Kobayashi, who also did for Oyama (Angel Beats!), Sarah McDougal (Love Hina), and Matake Ogata (Shakugan no Shana)..
Mari is voiced by Yuko Kaida, who also voiced for Toru Kitsutaka (Asura Cryin’), Maria Cruz (MS Gundam UC), and Aiho Yomikawa (Toaru Majutsu no Index)..
It’s definitely one of my favourites and I’m giving it a staggering 9.5/10..It’s damn good..
Shrek franchise is back and in its Final Chapter called Shrek The Final Chapter : Forever After..
Was telling some friends that I was going to watch Shrek 4, most of them went “What Shrek 4?? it’s the 3rd only right??”..
Even I got confused myself after..One thing for sure, I could remember the trilogy has finished and I was surprised when I saw the trailer for Forever After..
And so, it’s confirmed it’s the 4th instalment and perhaps the last one in Shrek franchise..
To be honest, I’ve never really sat down and watch the first 2 Shrek movies before, where the first two movies said to be the most successful in its franchise, let alone the 3rd one..
Shrek The Final Chapter is about Shrek living happily with Princess Fiona and their 3 children..
For Shrek being an ogre, he’s not used to the peaceful life of the fairy tales and nursery rhymes where the “live happily ever after” quote is applied..
So Shrek wanted to experience his ogre-life once again and that’s where Rumplestilskin (or just Rumple) comes into play..
And so the main plot starts from Shrek trying to get his life back, in a way or another..Hehe..
I’ve watched this Forever After in 3D (thanks to UIP), unfortunately I couldn’t really feel much of the 3D effect..Or maybe I was expecting too much? It’s my second 3D movie anyway, first one being How To Train Your Dragon..
I can’t really compare this with the first 3 since I’ve never really watched those but as Shrek is concerned, it’s always a good family movie..
I would rate it at 7/10..See for youself for your own rating
