Do you know that your beer needs protection? Or why is it important to skim your beer? These are just some of the trade secrets that are taught in Heineken Star Serve, a global draught beer quality programme that aims to improve and maintain the quality of beer.
The only reason for ordering a second beer is the quality of the first and the experts at Heineken go to great lengths to ensure that every pint of beer you order here in Malaysia or back in its homeland, Amsterdam or anywhere around the world reflect the same excellence that make it the world’s No.1 international premium beer.
So what is the classic Heineken drinking experience? At the heart of the Heineken Star Serve programme is the Heineken Pouring Ritual. You’ll learn to appreciate your pint of beer.
Five steps are all it takes to deliver the perfectly served Heineken draught beer for the quality Heineken drinking experience.
Although the perfect pint of Heineken can be achieved in 5 simple steps, mastering the art of pouring takes more than just a few tries.
Bartenders all over Malaysia go through a comprehensive training that does not only hone their pouring skills but grooms them to be stars in the hospitality industry.
“Heineken works hard to ensure world class quality of draught beer is produced in our breweries worldwide. However, if it is served wrongly, all that love and care can be destroyed at the bar, right before the drinker’s eyes,” emphasized Mr. Keith Nair, GAB Professional Solutions Manager and portfolio brand ambassador for Guinness Anchor Berhad.
“Essentially, we also want to educate drinkers and the public on what a perfect Heineken is, so they can demand for it. It’s a win-win situation, where our drinkers can enjoy perfectly served beer and bars nationwide maintain their quality serve,” added Nair.
The perfect drinking experience begins with the Heineken Pouring Ritual and that is exactly what bartenders from over 100 outlets nationwide went through recently.
After a grueling process of training and intensive bootcamp to prepare them physically, mentally and emotionally, the Top 8 will be pitted against each other at the National Finals to vie for the ultimate spot to represent Malaysia in the Heineken Global Bartender Finals in Amsterdam.
Demand the Perfect Pour
“We want our discerning drinkers to understand the process of serving the perfect pint of Heineken and at the same time demand for it. We hope the Heineken Star Serve programme not only uplifts the drinking experience in Malaysia but also enhances the hospitality industry in the country,” explains Ms. Jessie Chuah, Marketing Manager of Heineken Malaysia.
She added, “Now, you can also learn how to pour and serve a perfect Heineken pint with the Heineken Star Serve Facebook app.”
Through the Heineken Star Serve Facebook App, drinkers can virtually learn how to perform the five steps in the Heineken Pouring Ritual while putting their beer knowledge to the test in a pop quiz.
The app also allows you to ‘share’ your perfect pints with your friends and compare pouring skills among each other.
The Top 8 virtual pourers in the app will receive an exclusive invite to a physical pour-off in the National Finals of the Heineken Star Serve competition, with the winner of the pour-off taking home an all-expense paid trip to join the winning bartender in Amsterdam and witness the Heineken Global Bartender Finals in November.
The Heineken ‘Star Serve’ contest runs from 19 August – 20 September 2013. Simply head to Heineken Star Serve App in the Facebook page today and perfect your pour to earn your passport to the home of Heineken.
