If you have noticed, more youngsters nowadays drink Guinness Draught at Irish pubs and bars..
I guess it’s that good and it wouldn’t be surprising because Guinness Malaysia has won the coveted Global Guinness League of Excellence Award (GLoE) for the 4th consecutive time in a row for brewing the best Guinness in the world!

Guinness Malaysia had won the award in close competition involving 50 international breweries, including the top breweries in the America, Asia Pacific, and Africa, for consistently delivering great looking, great tasting Guinness every time, everywhere..

Brought Daphne along and we were introduced and explained on the key ingredients and steps being used to brew a good quality of Guinness..
Key ingredients included roasted and malted barley which provides the foundation for the flavour of the beer, finest female hops, purity and softness of water is prized, and the famous Guinness Yeast descended down from Arthur Guinness’s time..
Then we were treated with a brewery tour to have a look on their packaging, from preparing the bottles in line to filling up the bottles with beer and putting them in carton stacks..
It’s was quite an interesting tour considering brewery tour is not something common like any bread factory for highschoolers..And too bad photo-taking was not allowed so yeah, everything has to be discreet

It was really an eye-opener..Then we were taught how to serve a glass of Guinness Draught from the tap..
They actually showed us how to pour the perfect pint on few steps and even how to drink the pint of Guinness with confidence and pride!

This is what they called ‘The art of pouring a perfect pint’ showcase..It may seem easy to just get it from the tap with the foam and all but it’s not an easy task after all..
First you have to make sure you have the right amount of foam and of course the right shape of foam that forms the perfect shape beer head (aka the frothy foam)..
A sunken head in the middle is seen as a failure and not very nice in terms of presentation..

The correct way to drink a pint of Guinness is to hold the glass with confidence and pride. Never mind bout the foam, look out straight to the horizon..
Raise the glass to your lipsand not your lips to the glass..Bring your elbow up to the shoulder height for the perfect stance..
The first sip breaks the seal..Tilt the glass and allow the liquid to flow under the head..
*Guinness Foreign Extra Stout*
We were taught how to enjoy the Guinness Foregn Extra Stout (FES) as well..Pour it into a glass and do the 3 steps..
First step, take a sip of the FES, take note of its unique bittersweet taste, which comes from the roasted barley..
Second sip, make it a bigger sip than the first, slowly go down your throat and feel the explosion of flavors in your mouth, for an evolved acquired palate..
On third gulp onwards, you will experience all these intense flavors coming together for that satisfying finish..
Yes I know it sounds familiar..It’s almost the same steps you do to enjoy your glass of wine or whisky..
*Guinness Foreign Extra Stout in bottles*
The Foreign Extra Stout has abv (alcohol by volume) of 8% and the Guinness Draught has about 4.1% of abv..
It’s said that the Draught is made that way to attract more young drinkers to enjoy the great taste of Guinness before they move on to the Foreign Extra Stout for a stronger taste..
It’s also a known fact that most elder people who enjoy stouts prefer the FES more due to the strong aroma of hops..
Another trivial fact is that although Guinness is known as “Black beer” in Chinese, the true colour of Guinness is actually dark ruby red, if you didn’t know yet..
So I guess that’s about it and congratulations to Guinness Malaysia once again for winning the GLoE Award for the 4th consecutive times..
Also, I’m glad I enjoy my pint of Guinness as compared to my groups of friends..
