Sri Karak Restaurant @ PJ State
Few weeks back the foodie bunch went to Sri Karak in PJ State aka PJ Seksyen 7, nearby PJ Local Council (MBPJ) building..
Some might have already heard of this restaurant’s Durian Bomb or Durian Pancake, which is really the bomb!
In another word, they are quite famous for its durian dishes and products..
You don’t have to worry about the on and off season of durians because Sri Karak has its own durian plantation/estate..Hence they have durians whole year!
To be able to dine in this hidden restaurant is thanks to Wilson for the invitation..

*Sri Karak Restaurant at PJ State*
I must say this restaurant doesn’t has the best location which is situated at quite a secluded corner..
It took me some time and a bit of twist and turn before I managed to reach there..But then again, I’m a KL local, maybe PJ people would find it easily..

*The varieties*
Other than normal Chinese dishes or food, they also sell desserts such as cakes, muffins, and even ice-creams!

*HALAL certified*
This restaurant is not only pork free but it is truly HALAL certified..According to the owner, some Malays are known to have lunch/dinner in this restaurant..

*Cape Ostrich Koay Teow*
First off, we had the Cape Ostrich Koay Teow, which is actually better known as Kong Fu Chau or Wat Tan Hor, but with ostrich meat imported from Cape Town, South Africa!
The koay teow was smooth and the ostrich meat was tender as well..The gravy was well cooked with the eggs..I quite like this dish, and it’s the first one we were trying..
More surprising and wow-factor dishes up ahead..

*Tempoyak Ikan Temerloh Patin*
Tempoyak Ikan Temerloh Patin is of course, one of the few dishes that uses durian in it..
The name explains it all as tempoyak is actually fermented durian..I’m not sure whether the dish was meant to be cooked like that but the durian taste isn’t really that strong..

*Deep Fried Bean Curd with Home Made Sauce*
Most Chinese restaurants will have their own specialty bean curd (taufu) and Sri Karak is no different from them..
The Deep Fried Bean Curd with Home Made Sauce is not something really to die for but it is quite an interesting dish taufu lovers..
The skin is crispy and the inner filling is smooth and soft, and of course it goes very well with the home made sauce..

*”Sang Har” Noodle*
If you are a Chinese that speaks Cantonese you will know that “Sang Har” Noodle, or Sang Har Min, is not a Korean dish!
It’s actually something like Wat Tan Hor but the noodle is something like wantan mee that kinda noodle, with one big prawn for individual serving..
The price of the prawn is RM 9 per gram and I must say it’s a must have! The noodle is very good with the gravy and the prawn is succulent..
It might be as easy to cook as Wat Tan Hor but it’s harder than you think it is..Not many places offer a good Sang Har Min..

*Sri Karak Curry Fish Head*
Sri Karak Curry Fish Head is not the best that I’ve tried , nevertheless the curry is very appetizing and it’s worth a try..It comes in 2 sizes, small (RM 25) and large (RM 49)..

*Sri Karak Curry Laksa Mee*
Sri Karak Curry Laksa Mee is worth a try as well..At RM 6.50, it has quite a generous of ingredients and quite strong of santan taste..

*House Special Claypot Chicken*
House Special Claypot Chicken is not any ordinary chicken dish..It looks like Kung Po but it’s not..It looks like Marmite but it’s not..
The sauce is very thick and sweet and it goes very well with the marinated chicken..

*Stir Fried Salted Vegetable and Bitter Gourd*
I’m not a lover of vegetables let alone bitter gourd but this dish had me fascinated because the bitter gourd isn’t as bitter as I’ve tried anywhere else!
I might start to like bitter gourd because of this dish..

*Durian ABC*
After some fulfilling dinner, it’s time for dessert..What else if not the Durian ABC..Why is it called Durian ABC? The topping on top of the shaved ice is durian..
The taste of durian and shaved ice, yum yum~~!!

*Durian Pancake*
This is one of Sri Karak’s specialty, the Durian Pancake..Fresh durians are used for the fillings and they are really good..
The cream adds to the mouthful taste of durian, it feels so good but I prefer MORE durian pastes for the filling as the taste isn’t strong enough..

*Durian Cupcake*
Okay this is actually not a cupcake nor muffin, I’ve forgotten what is it called..The inner part is soft like a Tiramisu but with durian as the filling..
If not mistaken this dessert is not in the menu and the owner had the chef to specially bake it just for us..It spells stimness!

*Durian Tarts*
Durian Tarts are one of Sri Karak best seller in their durian department..To be fair, they didn’t specially make the tart for us there and then..
The tarts were already there since day time and it still taste good! It’s said that it’s not too good to put for too long such as overnight but from day time til night is not quite a problem..

*Durian Bomb*
Last but not least, Sri Karak’s famous Durian Bomb..Many might not familiar with this restaurant but they have heard of Durian Bomb..That explains all..
Why is it called Durian Bomb you ask me?
When you put in the crispy crusted ball into your mouth, give it a bite, the durian paste will spread out like a bomb exploding inside your mouth..
It’s da bomb, literally! Now, it’s time to drool

*The foodies*
Left to right, Timothy, me, Ken, Wingz, the husband and wife owner, Taufulou, Wilson and Rachel..
It’s very easy to get there from Federal Highway..Turn up to the Amcorp Mall junction, go straight until you come to a roundabout, take 12 o’ clock..
After the roundabout take a right turn where you will come to a one way road..
Keep going on the right lane and make a big round til the main road..The shop is somewhere at the back of Public Bank if not mistaken..
Here’s a rough idea on where the restaurant is located..

Wow, the sang har mee is GORGEOUS! Loaded with cholesterol though, but good food is most of the time sinful!
super late reaction that is not related to your post:
OMG YOU FREAKING CUT YOUR HAIR!
