Langkawi Trip – Part 1, First Flight Of My Life, With Malaysia Airlines (MAS)
I have traveled and walked around Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for few times but in my 25 years of life I have never boarded a plane before..
Last Friday, 9th Ocotber 2009 was my first time to board a plane and of course, travel in it..
It’s almost year-end with the Cuti-Cuti Malaysia fever is in the air, Dale and I decided take a short break before the start of my internship..
So we checked out the availability of the safer flight and at a reasonable price, MAS Get-The-Deal packages..
After much search and discussions, we devided to make a wasted weekend trip to Langkawi, at just RM69, not inclusive of tax..Quite reasonable I would say..
My first and last trip to Langkawi was in 2006, traveled on land and sea (bus and ferry)..It was quite fun..I could’ve guessed this trip would also be a simple yet fun one..

*Dale and I checking in at KL Sentral*
We booked for the 2.15pm flight so we checked in at KL Sentral at 11.45am..Now only I know that if we were to check-in at KL Sentral we have to do it 2 hours before the flight..
If we were to check-in at KLIA we can do so 1 hour before the flight..Hope I’m right about this..Do correct me if I’m wrong..

*KLIA Express*
Since it’s a Friday and no one could give us a ride to KLIA, we took the KLIA Express happily..RM35 per pax and we reached KLIA in just 30 minutes..That’s pretty express..
If we have like 5 people I think it’s better to drive..Otherwise, KLIA Transit or KLIA Express is the way to go..
I did a bit of panning while sitting in the train as well..

*We arrive at KLIA*
That’s our flight MH 1446 Pulau Langkawi..Before you board the plane, if you are bringing any hand-carry bags do remember to put in any bottle of liquid, cream, or solid-liquid items into the re-sealable transparent plastic bag..
I bet you don’t want to be mistaken for a 9/11 terrorist right?

*Check-in point aka Departure Gate*
At the departure gate we have to empty our pockets and put down our bags into the scanner..
Then we proceeded to Gate B3 to wait for our flight..More photos on B3 and Boeing 737 as soon as we landed Langkawi Airport..

*B3 and the bridge*
Okay I know I’m a bit jakun, but oh well, it’s my first time anyway..Usually I waited at the Arrival Hall but now I’m in the Departure Hall..Please forgive me..
We were also given instructions by the person in-charge to give way to the children and elders to board the plane first..It’s very considerate of them..

*Safety precautions*
After everyone was well seated and the plane is ready to make a move, the air stewards and stewardesses showed and explained what we should and should not do in the plane..
Safety precautions were also taught such as what to do should the plane do an emergency landing..

*The condition*
We were flying in the Boeing 737-400 if not mistaken..The smallest plane of all MAS Boeings..
Space between seats are quite okay for my long legs..At least I don’t feel cramped up..
We were served with orange juice and salted peanuts..Oh well economy class, what do you expect? I like the orange juice though..LOL~!!
The air stewardesses were all very friendly and care for their passengers, attended to their needs whenever they needed help or asked for favour..
It’s definitely an eye-opener for my first-time on board..No wonder MAS is one of the 6 airlines to be given a 5-star status airlines by Skytrax..

*The sky view from the plane window*
There we can see some islands floating around the sea..Luckily there were no rainstorm or something like that..I don’t want to experience turbulence on my first flight..
We arrived in Langkawi in about 40-minutes or so..The weird thing is I didn’t feel it’s that long at all..It felt shorter than 40 minutes..

*We landed at Langkawi Airport*
That’s a bit teaser of the back of the plane..

*Dale with Boeing 737*
Visit Malaysia, Jangan Tak Visit..If given enough time and sufficient allowance, I would really love to pay a visit to the East Malaysia..

*Boeing 737-400*
Wonder if I’m the lucky photographer who would capture the ‘situation gone wrong’ moment, where the staff got sucked into the turbine..Ewww~~

*Boeing and Dale under the bright sky*
This photo just reminds me of HK band Beyond’s Hoi Fut Tin Hung..

*Welcome to Langkawi, Duty/Tax Free Island*
The similar board can be seen at the jetty as well..

*Bright sky above the track way*
Don’t you feel like eating cotton candy now?

*Photo taken by Dale*
Hello Langkawi~!! More updates and photo galores in the next few entries about Langkawi..
Please do bear with me because I have more than 2,000 photos to be filtered, to not flood your bandwidth with all of it..
I need some time to choose and do a bit of processing, but I’m glad that I’m quite satisfied with the photos quality this time..
Guess not much editing needed to be done..I’m glad that I have a DSLR now compared to just using a camphone back in my 2006 trip..
