Last week I got an invitation from Wilson to go for a dinner at Taipan, USJ 10..When he mentioned it’s a steamboat buffet, I said yes without thinking a second..
Close friends would know that I’m a big-eater and there’s no way I would say no to steamboat buffet..Moreover it’s opened by one of Wilson‘s acquaintances..
Grand Steamboat Garden is situated in the middle of Jalan USJ 10/1F, along the same row as Standard Chartered Bank..
*Grand Steamboat Garden*
This steamboat restaurant has been operating for only 3 months and with the long rows of shops in Taipan, it’s not too weird if you’ve missed this restaurant..
On top of it, this restaurant offers somewhat halal food (haven’t got the halal certification) where the choices of food are pork-free..
I believe in most of other steamboat buffet restaurants you have to walk around to get your food and all? In Grand Steamboat Garden, it’s all about sitting down and eating only..
The Japanese restaurant style of conveyor belt keeps you from walking around..The only time you have to walk around is to get your drinks..It’s self-service anyway..
The restaurant could accommodate up to 80 pax..The seats are spacious enough and it’s not your average steamboat restaurant..
You don’t have to fight for your food, you don’t have to squeeze yourself in the crowd, nor ask for waiter/waitress to serve you..
Other than the convenience of the conveyor belt and its ambience all, there’s another specialty that I don’t think you could get this anywhere, or very very rare..
Find it out with some mouth-watering food to be offered..Before you proceed, the price is somewhere less than RM30 for adults and less than RM20 for kids..Well I don’t know how they define adults and kids but that’s the way it is..

*Individual hot pots*
As much as they are providing comfort to their customers, they are also very concern about hygiene where everyone gets to have their own individual hot pot..
Some people go til the extent that they don’t feel like eating when everyone is dipping their own chopsticks or scoops into that boiling pot..
It’s very hygienic in that sense and you get to choose the types of soup from the selection of Chicken, Herbal, Prawn, Tom Yam, and Extra Spicy Soup..You can also mix them up in anyway you like..
Furthermore, you get to control the boiling level on your own on the electronic stove..No more gas nor lighters or fire..
Here are some Sliced Beef and we are doing it steamboat style..The meat is all fresh and it’s simply delicious..
Dip it in the hot boiling soup for 3-4 seconds and put the whole slice in your mouth for a savoring rare-done beef..
As for me, I dipped it in and out in a count of 5-7 times..It works as well..Stim~!!
This is the Fried Abalone Mushrooms (Bao Yu Ku)..It’s crunchy and it’s a very nice finger food while waiting for your meats to be cooked in the boiling soup..
It tastes good and it’s better when you eat it with their specialty sauce, a blend mixed of garlic, belacan, and other ingredients..
*Preserved Beancurd Fried (Lam Yu) Chicken (L) and Spice Fried Chicken (R)*
Other than the Sliced Beef and Fried Abalone Mushrooms, these two types of fried chicken are their specialty as well..
The Preserved Beancurd Fried Chicken is very fragrant and the Spice Fried Chicken is very crispy..Now you have an alternatives for fried chickens..
*Some of the varieties on the conveyor belt*
And than the specialties, these are the normal dishes for steamboat galore, fishballs, meatballs, taufu, cocktails, sotong, etc etc..
*Tau Fu Fah and Ice-creams*
As for desserts, they serve tau fu fah and also ice-creams..Although it’s nothing to shout about but the tau fu fah was pretty good that it’s of the restaurant’s owner’s recipe..No kidding!
I’m not really a tau fu fah person and I’ve finished it..Kudos for myself..
If you are looking for a comfy steamboat with nice ambience, perfect hygiene, I would recommend Grand Steamboat Garden, anytime..
