High On Heels @ Envie Club

Last Wednesday was the day Rebellz and Plush had a joint fashion show to showcase their new summer collection..

Got invite by the designer herself, Ju Nn, one of the duo of Rebellz..

Rebellz is an online clothing line and Plush is a newly opened shop in Bangsar..

*The crowd*

The club isn’t really THAT spacious but it’s very considerate of the designers and organizers that the runway was a three-way runway..

Everyone got to see the catwalk where the runway covered most of the area, where one of it was specifically for media/photographers..

*The bloggers and photographers*

As you can see, some of them were there with me and we met some others there as well..

Those with me were Hikaru, Ren, Jun, Fattien, Ah Kwong, Ai Leng, Yiau, Jun Yan, and Heng..

There we bumped into the usual party girls, Isabella, Jacklyn, and Doreen..

We were treated with free flow of drinks before the event started and the crowd is nicely controlled, not like their first event at Goddezz at Mont Kiara..

Roll on for some pics from the runway..

Instant Noodle – Yum Yum Tom Yum

Okay, I’m going to start up an instant noodles series, where the nocturnal me will be buying different different kind of instant noodles to feed my hunger at night..

First up would be Tom Yum flavor, goes by the brand of Yum Yum..

It’s my first time buying it and I seriously not a Tom Yum eater, what’s more loving it..I can’t really take sour food nor drinks..

But still, I’ve decided to be a bit adventurous and gave it a try..Bought this at Tesco..

*Yum Yum Tom Yum Shrimp Creamy Flavour*

So that’s how the packaging looks like..As usual, I eat my soup instant noodles with an egg..

First boil the soup..The put in the noodles..

dsc03241-copy
*Noodles in the pot*

Cover the pot for about 30-45 seconds, then add in the egg and cook as you wish, whether mix it with the soup or without breaking the egg yolk..

I prefer to mix mine..Then cook for about another 1-2 minutes..

*The Yom Yum noodles*

Here’s the result..Like I said, I can’t take sour food nor drinks, not even a single bit..I hardly eat orange, imagine the seriousness..

My comment about this flavour? Not bad..I actually love it..Not really THAT sour, I can still take it..

Not too sure if Tom Yum should be more sour or this is the right taste but, it’s just right and nice to me :D

*Slurpssss*

Can’t believe I actually like this Tom Yum..Now I can add one more soup flavour into my favourite lists of instant noodles..

SLURPSSS~!!!

Bon Odori 2009 @ Panasonic Matsushita Stadium, Shah Alam

Last Saturday, 18th July 2009 was the day where the annual Bon Odori festival was held at Matsushita Corp Stadium in Shah Alam..

Other than the one in Selangor, another similar event is being held in Penang as well..

Bon Odori, is an event held during Obon, which is a Japanese Buddhist custom to honor the departed spirits of one’s ancestors..

So yeah, it’s quite a traditional festival and I don’t think it should be modernized, unless the Japanese Buddhist are doing so..

My first visit to Bon Odori was 7 years ago, when I was in Lower Six Form..

I vaguely remembered what has happened or know about what Bon Odori is..

Chee Ching and Wendy planned one like 2-weeks before the event so I thought it might be fun to go there again after 7 years..

dsc03947-copy
*At 6pm when we reach the place*

The stadium was still quite “empty”, although there were already lots of people at the entrance gate and the stadium seats were practically ALL occupied..

It’s already an hour after the event has started at 5pm and we could still find ample of parking lots inside the stadium car park..

dsc03951-copy
*Japanese culture, food and drinks*

Plenty of stalls and booths were set up to sell Japanese goodies such as sushi, Japanese beer a.k.a Asahi, green tea, Japanese ice-creams, fried ramen, etc etc..

But, on a side note, they were selling products from other country as well, like Budweiser, Foster’s, and few others..

dsc03973-copy
*People with yukata, an informal kimono*

It’s the day where you’ll see people from all walks of like walking around in yukata under the hot dry sun..

Yukata, an informal type of kimono where kimono are made of silk, yukata are made of cotton..

The guy with the Suntory Green Tea is Joyce..Yeah, a guy..

dsc04010-copy
*Chee Ching (2nd right) and her friends, Wendy (FR), and I*

So here’s a group pic of us..At last there’s a decent face in my own camera, where someone complained I always have other people’s faces in my photos but not my own..

dsc03982-copy
*The field before Bon Odori starts*

This photo is taken at about 7pm, an hour after I’ve taken the first pic I’ve posted above..The difference was humongous..

From an empty close to half-filled field became an almost 90% filled field..

Move on for more photos on the performances and something really really irks me as a Malaysian and I felt sorry for the Japanese..

Pasta Zanmai And Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince @ Signature Gardens, Non-Spoiler

Well, got an invitation from MAS Travel for a movie meet-up at Gardens to watch Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince..

I’m not a Harry Potter fan to begin with but who would say no to a movie which I’ve got good feedbacks from fellow friends..

Satkuru even shared in his Facebook, “If you think Transformers 2 is 10/10, Harry Potter is 15/10″..I was like WTF when I read that sentence..

So without hesitation I agreed and went to the movie with the gang..

Before the movie, Jun and I had dinner at Pasta Zanmai, which is like one of my favourite place for dinner in Midvalley..LOL~!!

Pictures grabbed from Jun and Jess..

dsc09994-copy
*Pasta Zanmai*

On the top left was Jun’s Ebi Fry Curry Rice..She said it’s nice, and as I know Japanese curry is always quite thick and very rich, but I’ve yet to confirm with my taste bud..

The bottom two are my set meal of Mini Hotate Pizza and Mini Teriyaki Chicken Pasta..

Both were moderately good..Something worth mention is just the oysters on my Mini Hotate Pizza..They were good, at least for me..The pasta, so so only..

After dinner we went to Gardens and met up with the others..Got our tickets and enjoy the movie..

IMHO, it’s not quite enjoyable for me..Not that I’ve watched the previous movies, let alone reading the books..

I had only watched the first two movies..The Sorcerer’s Stone and The Chamber of Secret if not mistaken..

The movie is like, no climax at all..Some of the scenes it tried to be funny or indirectly with subtle jokes, some were laughing very hard, but not for me..

Those are not really funny, as it’s nothing majorly funny..

And the most annoying part, Ron Weasley‘s relationship with Lavender, is such a joke..A not funny one..

It’s almost the most exaggerated acting or scenes, let alone the annoying nickname Lavender gave to Ron Weasley, Won Won wtf..

Okay, some might say I’m bias because I’m not a fan to begin with but if you are saying so just because I’m not af an, don’t you think you are biased as well, if you are a big fan?

Other than me, some of them who joined us for the movie also said that they were disappointed with the ending and all, coz it’s like just halfway through if you’ve read the Half Blood Prince book, so I was being told..

Not to mention Boss twittered that he fell asleep when he was watching that movie with Audrey..Stim!

*L>R – Me, Aaron, Jon, David, Zheng Hwuang, Kelli, Jess, and Hsu Jen*

All in all, I don’t think it’s worth watching..Not that I anti Harry Potter, but from now on I’ll call it Hairy Pohdah-chit..

I’m not really looking forward to the rumored 2-parters finale, Hairy Pohdah-chit And The Deathly Hollow..

Now I’m very anticipated with G.I Joe, Inglourious Basterds, and Iron Man 2..

Rachel Studio Shoot @ Sony Style, The Curve

This was like…….(right-click on pic to see the date)……more than 2 weeks back..LOL~!!

Okay this is the first we shoot at SONY Style Studio, a studio inside of SONY Style shop at The Curve..

Invited Rachel -my junior in both secondary and university and also a cousin of an old friend- to do this photoshoot and I guess it was quite an experience..

Rachel is of Chinese-Filipino parentage, so her skin tone is slightly darker and we had a hard time to fix the backdrop color..

We use colored translucent paper a.k.a tang lung paper to do the job, by using the colored paper as filter on the flash..

dsc03601-copy
*#1 – Rachel Muriel*

We tried to put a bit of color on the backdrop with color paper and it seems that blue color is a bad choice, indeed..

By the way, the shadow shown on the back drop is purposely done..Yes although some might say it’s quite a mistake to have shadow at the back but we find it fine..

dsc03628-copy
*#2 – Mysterious*

Then we decided to take a short break while Rachel change her clothes, to flowery dress..

So we removed the blue filter and blast the flash on the white-yellowish backdrop to eliminate the yellowish color..

dsc03722-copy
*#3 – The long wait*

We even used a bit of props, considering it’s SONY Style shop, so there’s lots of things that can be used..

At least, we got a nice couch..

dsc03728-copy
*#4 – Teh happy*

Now this was the first time we use the studio, we did lots of mistakes on the backdrop..Hope we can fix it in our next shooting..

dsc03734-copy
*#5 – Laid back*

I could only post fit-size photo of hers because of the floor..There’s a black lining on the floor so the whole pic is not that white nor concentrated anymore..

dsc03778-copy
*#6 – The new A230*

We used few props, the couch, new A230, a steel chair, and an old Cybershot digicam..We somewhat had fun shooting Rachel with the props in hands..

dsc03846-copy
*Rachel and I*

Last but not least, here’s a photo of me and her..

You can view the full album on my Facebook Album, Rachel Muriel Studio Portrait..

I’ve another album coming up very soon..

The Verve – Bittersweet Symphony

The Verve, an English rock band that were formed in 1990 by Richard Ashcroft (vocalist), Nick McCabe (guitarist), Simon Jones (bassist), and Peter Salisbury (drummer)..

They released their first full-length album, A Storm In Heaven in 1993..

The band has had a lot of internal problem from drinking to drugs and conflicts between the band members which caused them to break up once in 1995, right before they release their third single, History from the second album, A Northern Soul..

The original band members reunited in 1997 and recorded their third album, Urban Hymns..

Through Urban Hymns, The Verve gained widespread commercial success and “Bittersweet Symphony” is the first single of this album..

They then officially broke up in April 1999..

The Verve had become one of the most influential British alternative rock bands years after that..

Vocalist Richard Ashcroft then went solo after the break-up and wasn’t really doing well in the second album, after much success from the first album..

The band members had a reunion in 2007 just for the sake of music and all..They event turned down a multi-album deal because they think that’s the beginning of the end of the band a decade ago..

Of course they wouldn’t want to repeat that mistake..

The band announced its fourth album, Forth, in August 2008 and are having moderate popularity in Europe now, compared to the olden days..

So here’s the single that shot them to instant fame around the globe, “Bittersweet Symphony” with lyrics..

The Verve – Bittersweet Symphony

Cause it’s a bittersweet symphony, this life
Try to make ends meet
You’re a slave to money then you die
I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the veins meet yeah,

No change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I’m here in my mold
I am here in my mold
But I’m a million different people
from one day to the next
I can’t change my mold
No, no, no, no, no

Well I never pray
But tonight I’m on my knees yeah
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now
But the airways are clean and there’s nobody singing to me now

No change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I’m here in my mold
I am here in my mold
And I’m a million different people
from one day to the next
I can’t change my mold
No, no, no, no, no
I can’t change
I can’t change

‘Cause it’s a bittersweet symphony, this life
Try to make ends meet
Try to find some money then you die
I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the things meet yeah

You know I can change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I’m here in my mold
I am here in my mold
And I’m a million different people
from one day to the next
I can’t change my mold
No, no, no, no, no

I can’t change my mold
no, no, no, no, no,
I can’t change
Can’t change my body,
no, no, no

I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down
I’ll take you down the only road I’ve ever been down
Been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Have you ever been down?
Have you’ve ever been down?
