Exotic Food @ Shaw Parade, Pudu KL
Okay, I bet most KL people, wait, let me get things straight..
When I say KL people, I do mean people who born in KL and stay in KL, not people from PJ or other states who are working or studying in KL..
Okay, back again, I bet most KL people know about this place, a normal roadside food stall right opposite of Pudu Shaw Parade..

*At the corner of the junction opposite of Pudu Shaw Parade*
They sell different kinda food here, what most people called “yeh mei” in Cantonese, as in exotic food..
They start their business in the evening from around 5-6pm til, I don’t know, 10-11pm?
I guess it has been in operation since, at least 15 years ago? I don’t know, but I do know it has been there since I was in primary school..Imagine that..
And the patrons started to build up at around 6pm or so..It’s very famous for its exotic food..

*Packed at 9pm*
Well not very that exotic, but exotic enough to have squirrel, monitor lizard, turtle, and some other herbal dishes from chicken to pork to beef, plus some herbal soups..
Last Saturday, after a mild shopping with Hikaru at Bukit Bintang, we had our dinner there..
We wre not that adventerous so we just ordered the normal ones, if compared to squirrel, monitor lizard, or turtle….

*Herbal Chicken (Yiok Choi Kai)*
Hikaru ordered the Herbal Chicken, the chicken is steamed with other herbs in the ceramic bowl..Not too sure how it tastes but it’s one of the favourites here..
What say you?

*Coconut Steamed Chicken (Yeh Zi Dan Kai)*
I ordered the Coconut Steamed Chicken (Yeh Zi Dan Kai)..Basically the chicken and herbs are put into the coconut and steamed to absorb the taste of the coconut..
The chicken was succulent and tender albeit the chicken meat is from the breast part..The aroma of the coconut and herbs were absorbed into the chicken and it tasted mama-mia-licious..

*Curry Wild Boar (Ka Li San Chu Yuk)*
The Curry Wild Boar, meat was tender but the curry isn’t spicy enough to be called curry, although the curry was quite an appetizer to be used as gravy for the rice..
An improvement on the spicyness of the curry would make it a better dish..

*Satisfaction from both Hikaru and I*
The soup from both Herbal Chicken and Coconut Steamed Chicken are boiled to perfection..
You might want to try some other soups to cool down your body in this heaty weather..
By the way, they will be moving further down the road coz the authorities are driving them out of that place..
It’s either they finally realized they are operating the business illegal on that land or making way to developement for more buildings or road expansion..
Be there before they move..Otherwise, just walk down the road for about 5-minutes I guess..It’s just behind Times Square anyway..
why you never order any yeh meiii?
