ESPN Star’s The Greatest – F1 Driver

Well, I might not be the biggest Formula One (F1) fan around, at least, I’m aware that the race is just around the corner..

If not mistaken the Malaysian F1 Grand Prix is on 5th of April 2009, Sunday, at Sepang International Circuit (SIC)..

Like I said, I might not be the biggest F1 fan ever, but I’ve went to Sepang to watch the F1 live 3 times~!

*I still keep my tickets*

Okay I know it’s the cheapest ticket, RM100 on Hill Stand, at least I went..I was at Sepang in 2001, 2002, and 2005..

The 2001, I went there by KTM with my cousin brother..2002, with my father..2005, by KTM with my friends..

*Well kept*

It’s definitely very very different from what you’ve been watching on television..

Now history aside, did you know that ESPN Star is having a game on in conjunction with the F1 fever?

If I’m not mistaken, they have conducted a Poll-like kinda games, called The Greatest Athelete or something, where our homegrown Nicol David fared very well..

Now, they’ve conducted another game called The Greatest F1 Driver~!!

To show your support, please proceed to ESPN Star : The Greatest F1 Driver for the game..Where you will see the page of The Greatest game..

*Front page of The Greatest F1 Driver Poll*

16 iconic drivers have been shortlisted, who were pre-determined by fans across the region through forum discussions..

The list comprises of drivers from the past til present, namely Jackie Stewart, Ayrton Senna, Juan Manuel Fangio, Alain Prost, Niki Lauda, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jack Brabham, Mario Andretti, Michael Schumacher, Mika Hakkinen, Stirling Moss, Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen, South-East Asia’s first F1 driver, Malaysian Alex Yoong, and the first Indian to participate in F1 Championship, Narain Karthikeyan..

As you can see, you can actually click on the drivers’ thumbnail for more details of the drivers..

From there you might want to choose the greatest driver ever, based on facts and history instead of blindly voting for your favourite drivers..

On the top right, click on “Click Here To Play” to proceed with the voting game..

*The Knock-Out Voting Competition*

As you can see from the latest result, it’s already in the Quarter-Finals..

I can actually predict Michael Schumacher meeting Raikkonen in the Semi-Final and another Semi is happening soon..

You can only click on the battles where the date is in RED color, where the voting can only be done on particular days and all..

The Quarter-Finals will be running from 16th-30th March, Semi-Finals from 30th March – 2nd April, and Finals from 2nd April – 4th April..

The result will be announced on 5th April during the chequered flag a.k.a after the race is finished..

*The page where you get to vote for your favourite drivers*

Well, I’ve already knew that Michael Schumacher would go far in this competition..It’s not surprising at all..

BUT, what if you put Michael Schumacher in other cars that didn’t fare as well, such as Minardi, or some manufacturers..

Of course in turn, you put the drivers on Minardi or other manufacturers in Ferrari or McLaren..I bet it will be a fair competition..

Yes I know driving skills are very important but at the same time, the engine plays a major role in car racing..

I reckon that the Final showdown will be between Michael Schumacher versus Fernando Alonso..

I actually quite like Fernando Alonso as he went against all odds in his mid-range Renault and toppled the big players like Ferrari, McLaren, and Williams..

So, who’s your favourite driver? Be there and vote for it~!

I think Michael S. is the best. I’ve seen a lot of race where he is truly a genius with the F1 car.

Michael vs Fernando … hmm … both are equally great. But I’ll still opt for Michael. What Fernando did, Michael did that already … and he did more … remember the time where he drove all the way in 5th gear…or the time where he won after handling 4 cars behind his tail with super super worn breaks. He can do wonders…

  9. Yatz:

cai hong >> i’m referring Michael Schumacher :)

Jasonmighty >> well I don’t know but like I said, try to put M.Schumacher in Minardi or lower standard cars..it would be different :)

  10. Myhorng:

  11. Jack:

Schumi is the best ever …. haha …. too bad he earn too much till retired … if not .. he’s the walking legend … lol

  12. Yatz:

Myhorng >> yes indeed..they went against all odds :)
